Through the work of Habitat, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. Churches, community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem -- decent housing for all.
Today, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 200,000 houses, sheltering more than 1,000,000 people in more than 3,000 communities worldwide.
Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify:
need adequate housing;
Kankakee County resident for one year;
Willing to complete 500 hours of work and program participation;
Meet Kankakee County Habitat for Humanity income requirements;
Able to pay $500.00 cash down payment;
Able to pay a $500.00 per month mortgage payment that includes principal and taxes, insurance;
Agree to complete a credit check and background check
Willing to go through credit counseling
