In March, 1987, the Voucher Program began with 30-two bedroom vouchers. An additional 50-two bedroom vouchers were received in June, 1988. The Family Self-Sufficiency Program was implemented in 1992. This program is designed to assist participants in becoming more self-sufficient. In 1993, the Drug Elimination Program was implemented. The Drug Prevention Department provides a wide array of drug prevention activities for KCHA tenants which includes: Police Patrol, After-school Activities, social events. In 1996, the Family Unification Program (FUP) was implemented. This program is designed for families for whom the lack of adequate housing is a primary factor in the imminent placement of the family's child(ren) or in the delay of discharge of a child(ren) to the family from out-of-home care. KCHA provides public housing, Section 8 Vouchers, Family Self-Sufficiency and Homeownership Programs.
Provides low income housing for adults, seniors, and the disabled, Section 8 housing for those meeting HUD guidelines, and family self-sufficiency and homeownership programs.
