Welcome to the KAN-I HELP Network

The Kankakee-Iroquois HELP Network (KAN-I HELP) is a comprehensive community information system designed to connect the residents of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties, in north central Illinois, with government agencies and publicly financed human services, as well as other non-profit organizations. KAN-I HELP is an initiative of the Pledge for Life Partnership.

The KAN-I HELP web site (www.kan-i-help.org) allows individuals to utilize the internet to gain access to services provided by government and non-profit agencies. Minimally, each listing contains a link to an agency’s web site or provides a telephone number. In many instances, additional information about the agency, as well as a description of the services offered, is also available. Listings are constantly being updated and new information added.

In addition to the website, the KAN-I HELP Network makes information about community resources available through several other avenues including the printed KAN-I-HELP Human Services Directory, which is updated and published every other year. Special editions are also published to meet unique information needs of individuals. The Family Caregiver Directory was targeted to those caring for their elderly family members and grandparents raising grandchildren.

In addition to KAN-I HELP, the Pledge for Life Partnership sponsors several other initiatives to improve the quality of life in the Kankakee-Iroquois region by making it a safer and healthier place to live and work. These initiatives have grown out of the Partnership’s original undertaking in 1989 to raise funds to purchase and operate a mobile Life Education Center. Currently, two mobile classrooms travel to over 50 public and nonpublic schools in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties. During the 2009-2010 academic year, Life Education Center instructors taught over 14,000 students about the human body, the dangers of its abuse, and the skills needed to deal with the dilemma of negative peer pressure.

The Parents’ Page – an electronic newsletter is available for parents of Kindergarten-8th grade students in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties.

The Pledge for Life Partnership also maintains a Human Development Resource Center, housed on the fourth floor of the Kankakee County Administrative Building, 189 East Court Street, Suite 401, Kankakee. Comprised of print and non-print materials, the center now boasts nearly 1,000 titles that are available for use by staff from human service, educational and governmental agencies.

For more information about any of these services call the Pledge for Life Partnership office at 815.936.4606.
